Raincoast Conservation Foundation (www.raincoast.org)
A team of conservationists and scientists empowered by our research to protect the lands, waters and wildlife of coastal British Columbia.  We use rigorous, peer-reviewed science and grassroots activism to further our conservation objectives. We call this approach ‘informed advocacy’ and it is unique amongst conservation efforts. We Investigate to understand coastal species and processes. We Inform by bringing science to decision makers and communities. We Inspire action to protect wildlife and their wilderness habitats. Raincoast is a not-for-profit research and public education organization. Raincoast Conservation Foundation will be facilitating a community event on Pender Island.

Social Coast (www.socialcoast.org)
By encouraging a welcoming, informed and even fun atmosphere leading up to and during our actions, we hope to demystify the elements of activism that tend to discourage those who would otherwise happily join us in the enterprise of hope and optimism. With this in mind, our other constant aim is to drive forward with utter sincerity, determination, and enthusiasm. In our organizing, we work to reveal systemic oppression and inequalities through the fight for environmental, social, and economic justice. We organize with people and groups who are sustaining a community principled on equality, autonomy, and compassion.

Social Environmental Alliance (www.socialenvironmentalalliance.org)
The Social Environmental Alliance (SEA) advocates for the application of ecological and democratic socialist principles to public affairs and the governance of our communities, building support for these ideals through public education, grassroots coalitions, electoral methods and cultural work. “People and the Planet Before Profit.” SEA is the organizing body for the event.
